This December 18th the newest installment in the Star Wars series will be released in movie theaters as Star Wars Episode VII with much excitement and anticipation. And the upcoming release is the inspiration behind this show. The original Star Wars movie came out in 1977 and I was 6 years old when my father took me to see it in the movie theatre near UCLA where he was a student. It was the first movie I ever saw in a theatre and it was obviously amazing to see. It was such an experience... I remember being drawn into the story instantly in the opening scene and throughout until the ending. It was and still is one of my favorite movies today and it has really been a bench mark for other sci-fi films both pre and post CGI as the story itself was enough without CGI effects. What Better way to celebrate the release of Episode VII then with a Star Wars inspired art show from some of the most interesting and contemporary artists working today.
This group show was an idea that both curators Justin Giarla and Jeremiah Kille felt needed to happen and the timing was perfect to open the show just 1 week before the newest episode came out. Artists participating in the show are Jeremiah Kille, Helen Bayly, Michael Brennan, Scott Musgrove, Scott Listfield, Adam Lister, CANTSTOPGOODBOY, Ted Lincoln, Jesse LeDoux, Nick Vargas, Justin Angelos, Ferris Plock and Justin Kane Elder.
